digitized books in the U.S. fight so it does not prevent you from continuing to sell Microsoft Word

A Texas court ruled that the software company has infringed a patent related to the word processing program

Microsoft Corp. asked a federal appeals court allow it to continue selling word processing program Word while fighting against a negative decision on a patent related to the program.

The federal court for the Eastern District of Texas ruled three months ago that Microsoft infringed a patent on the way Word handles documents that are held by the Canadian company i4i LLP.

Last week, the judge ordered Microsoft to pay $ 290 million and suspend the sale of its program within 60 days, because it uses the patented technology.

The patent relates to the manner in which the 2003 and 2007 versions of Word allows users to customize the encoding of XML documents .

Microsoft argues that both the company and consumers will be affected if Word out of the market while the company finds a temporary solution.
